Where do turtles go in the winter?
Last clinging leaves of
Red and brown
Silently

Fall
As old man winter prepares to enter.
Crisp air, frost covered ground
Where have all the turtles gone?
Too slow to cross a street
No wings to take flight
Couldn’t go twenty feet
No fur to keep warm
During a winter’s storm
Where have all the turtles gone?
Bears hibernate in a den
Bees most certainly freeze
Crabs dig in once again
Down south birds fly
Been told flies die
Where have all the turtles gone?
Unlike a mouse
Who feels the harsh winter wind
Then hides in a house
Or a nippy chill felt by a bug
Who gets snug under a rug
Where have all the turtles gone?
Not as lucky as me
Waiting it it out by a cozy fire
Can’t climb a tree
To build a nest
For a winter’s rest
Where have all the turtles gone?
Spoke to some sources
What I found
Disappointingly not profound
Turtles burrow underground
That’s where all the turtles have gone.
